U G A N D A 2 0 1 0

In less than two weeks I will embark on the Great Primate Handshake's 2010 expedition to Uganda. Eighteen individuals with expertise in the fields of video, web and education will spend a month travelling around Uganda using their skills to raise awareness of primate conservation. I aim to update this blog as often as possible during my time in Uganda, so please check back regularly.

From a young age I would be laden with hundreds of black and white images of lions, monkeys, cheetahs, flamingoes; much later I began to develop my own film and print from it, noticing familiar textures and smells in the process, realising that the shiny black pouch that my grandfather had gifted his prints from the safari parks in Kenya to me in was what fresh Ilford black and white printing paper came in. Folding my numerous fresh black pouches around the paper that somehow linked me with my grandfather, I never dared to think about the possibility of creating wildlife photographs of my own.

Now is the time for daring. soon to embark on the third and final year of my BA course, I am finally ready to walk in my grandfather's footsteps.
