From a young age I would be laden with hundreds of black and white images of lions, monkeys, cheetahs, flamingoes; much later I began to develop my own film and print from it, noticing familiar textures and smells in the process, realising that the shiny black pouch that my grandfather had gifted his prints from the safari parks in Kenya to me in was what fresh Ilford black and white printing paper came in. Folding my numerous fresh black pouches around the paper that somehow linked me with my grandfather, I never dared to think about the possibility of creating wildlife photographs of my own. Now is the time for daring.
